Duke Forest, Hillsborough Division, west of Hillsborough, NC. Take exit 161 from Interstate 85/40 and drive north toward Highway 70 and Highway 86. After 3/4 mile you will see a TPA event sign and a Duke Forest entrance. Get there in time to register for the hike before our 2 PM departure. We will be back at the entrance by 4.
This is a special place with a major 18th century intersection, numerous occupation sites, some quarries, cemeteries and complex associations with the War of the Regulation and the Revolutionary War. It is the scene of Thomas Hart Benton's (the elder) boyhood home.
